Of course. Any speaker (besides subwoofer) can be used in any position.

I use towers as surround. I'd prefer bookshelves though.

Is it personal preference? Or tied to receiver performance?

Thanks will pair it with my RF 82 front one

Dumb question.
I have a small Memorex boom box. Can I connect these speakers to it?

Seems like a great deal. Looks like other speakers on sale too. RB-10 (bookshelf) = 89.99; and RS-10 (surrounds) = 79.99. So tempted to get 4 RF-10 duals (2 main, 2 rear) and a RC-10 center. All that is under $500. <$100 each speaker!? Yes please! Maybe wait for another 12" Klipsch sub deal at Fry's to complete the set? Would love to do 4 RF-10s (2 main, 2 rear); 2 RC-10s (front and rear); and 2 RS-10 surrounds. All that for under $800 including tax and shipping?!? Damnit! So tempting.

Lowest these have been on Amazon was $120 back in 2010. So good price, probably closeout like when mono-price decided to exit the cheap tower speaker market.

No such thing. Almost certainly not. You need to have an amp or receiver and a proper speaker connection post. It IS possible your boombox has speaker posts and wire, but would, most likely not be pushing enough signal to power speakers like these, plus speaker wire on boombox would be too thin to properly carry signal.

Anyone have any idea how these compare to the Pioneer Andrew Jones FS-52?

Personal preference. If you have the room for them and you're sitting far enough away from the rear towers, you should be good. Me living in a 1bdrm apartment (even though it's over 800 sqft), it seems like I just don't have enough space between me and the rear speakers to make it worth it. You should also take into account the height and whether you may want to put the rear towers up a little higher to better "surround" yourself.

I would go for the Andrew Jones but that's my opinion however I've listened to both when shopping for a friend. If your only concern is movies and not 2 channel music playback then flip a coin.
