I bought this over thanksgiving sale. It is useless 90% of the time. The only time it works is when someone pushes the button. Do not expect it to record when motion is sensed. I have updated the firmware and software and played with the settings. It's either too sensitive where you get alerts all day or none at all.

I did too and I've had a great experience with mine, the motion detection has been about 95% accurate ...only failing when the wifi signal drops out. Much better motion detection than I expected. Image quality at 720 is great and more than enough for my needs.

Downside? Hardly anyone rings the bell. Maybe because it's on the wall opposite the knob, or maybe because it doesn't look like a traditional doorbell. But I know when anything gets delivered thanks to this cool thing.

I'd buy it again in an instant.

The intercom is what has me interested. If you're so unhappy with it tho, maybe you should sell it. Really cheap. To me.

Works just fine for me and has proven already to be very useful. Then again, most stuff I buy simply works out of the box.

Great device. Has worked without failure last 2 months since I bought it. Last firmware update also fixed the delayed video recording issue. Pretty happy with it so far. Image quality and motion detection is great too. I have it set right next to the door facing the walkway.

How do you update firmware on these? Can you do it through the app, or do you need to take it off and update via usb?

I just received an email that said the firmware was updated on mine. I also had motion detect issues that have been pretty much fixed with this new firmware.

Mine from the Thanksgiving sale is also working perfectly. I'll get a motion recording from any delivery people, another if they ring the bell. No false alarms from the street, though my door is 90 deg from the street. The clarity of the videos is good.

My only nit is that when I get an alert, wish I could jump into the current recording, rather than it creating an additional on-demand live recording.

Skybell HD and Ring Pro both have HD camera that records crystal clear videos at 1080p. That is the most important part. You will see whoever is ringing the doorbell clearly.

Here is a comparison review [doorbellhome.org] I have linked before in previous Skybell threads.

Skybell updated their fw in the past month or so, motion detection is very accurate, app gets updated all the time. i was an early adopter and had issues with it but now i would recommend it.

Been trying to decide between this and ring pro. If you are away from home is there much delay from the time it rings or motion is detected and it notifies on the phone? Ideally I'd like to tell the delivery guy I will open the garage and to put packages inside, but if the delay is significant they definitely don't hang around to wait.
