Thanks was waiting for this. If only they would adjust their eBay price to match to combine eBay bucks...

I was really debating on ordering this to replace my Vali 2, but reviews seem to say it is fairly bright.

I have the HD700's which might not pair well with it then. I also have a TH-X00 and Fidelio X2.

I researched amps a lot, and indeed this A20 has gotten great reviews, and this is a great price (I watched it for months in the upper $300s). Ended up going with the Audeze Deckard during their B-stock sale, perfectly happy with it, probably would be with this A20 too.

I'd probably get this, considering the differential of 500 to 300 Smilie

I purchased this and returned it for a refund. The volume knob had a manufacturing defect. I called BeyerDynamic and was basically told to just return it to the place of purchase or to send it to them at my cost. Wasn't happy with how they dealt with this problem, so I will be using a different company.

All that said, it produced a slightly fuller and more accurate sound (almost distracting - picks up every little flaw in the source) than my focusrite 6i6 using HD6XX (HD650) cans. I plan on getting the O2 or Magni instead for my dedicated headphone amp. Volume levels on the HD650 were way more than enough, but I get plenty of volume out of my 6i6.

Hope this helps someone.

You are comparing apples to oranges here. One has a built in DAC, the other does not.

Difference in sound quality is unlikely to be much, unless you have bad cables coming out of your DAC.

Before spending money on such luxuries, you should know that you may not hear the difference between this and a mobile phone. High end audio is mostly hoey, as demonstrated by hundreds of blind audio tests which test everything, from cables, amps, preamps, power cords, and speakers. Any difference you hear is in your mind or the result of your other senses.

Any blind test on amps done in this decade? You link is for blind test done in the early 90s.
