Hi everyone - I'll be heading to France for vacation in June, and I'm wondering if anyone has success and/or tips for using the Freedompop Global Sim in France (specially Paris)?

I have a Oneplus unlocked that I plan to be using with two Global Sims that I got recently. I haven't jailbreaked my OnePlus so I can't install the Freedompop messager on it. However, I popped in the sim yesterday and verify that I could get data working (yes, I made sure wifi is off).

So, my questions are:
1. Can I just bring my phone and the sims, and they will work "as is"? If I want to use data only (internet browsing), can I get away with NOT installing the freedompop app (the "messenger" I think it's called)?

2. Is it 200MB of global roaming data only, per sim?

3. Any issues that I may encounter?

4. Any tips that I may need?

thanks in advance for any / all suggestions!!!

France is a supported country and it works there.

You don't need to install the apps

2. Yes. But you only get 100 mb before it will lock you out unless you top up. Or it may just auto top up, i can't recall.
You can get an additional 500mb by adding freedompop friends.

3. You need to add the FP APN if not found. You may need to select the provider when you get to France ThreeUK or something like that.

4. Put in data guards.

collect/add freedomfriends to get to 700Mbs and request extra 500MBs from them
or invest $10 in 10 Global SIMs and become friend with yourself - use 10 diferent emails
looks like this deal is still alive

I personally just used 3 Global SIMs (3Gbs) in Lyon, Chamonix, Milan, Geneva - works fine

You're correct! France is one of our supported countries, please click on the link bellow to see a list of our supported countries:

The default top-up amount is $15. You can turn off this feature at any time. In any month your usage is within 20mb of your monthly plan broadband capacity limit, or in which your account balance falls below $2 credit, your account will be charged using the primary payment method on your account.

Was just in Paris last week. Used a FP Global sim on a Nexus 6. Worked fine. Sometimes it didn't connect to the FreedomPop network, I had to manually select it. There would be two Freedompop networks listed and others (e.g. Orange, etc...). For some reason the 2nd listed FP network worked. Paying attention to my data usage (keeping auto-sync off), it was nice to have mobile data in a pinch (Yelping a restaurant : ~5 Mb, Ubering ~5-10Mb).

FYI, Galeries LaFayette and Louvre have free wifi

In 10 years from now. FP has been advertising the coming soon countries (SE Asia, India, Russia) for the last 2 years. Don't hold your breathe.
