I really do want one of these doorbells since I've been doing a lot of home automation stuff lately. But every time I am about to jump on one of these deals, I stop short. It seems like the Skybell HD and Ring Pro are fairly comparable -- with different pros/cons. But I have a few issues with this deal:

1) Skybell's direct return policy is pretty bad. A $30 restocking fee and you are charged shipping and handling (both ways it seems). This applies for any reason and you only have 30-days.

2) The wifi chipset only supports 2.4ghz @ 802.11 b/g. What decade is this? This is a huge issue with IoT devices, trying to save $0.10 by going with the cheapest wireless chipset available. It also says that if you have a dual-band AP you need to differentiate the 2/5ghz bands into different SSIDs. And possibly downgrade it if you have 802.11n/ac support. Sorry, but f*ck that.

if you're that close to the door, might as well look through the peephole?

How does it compare to Ring video pro? This is about $70 less than their best price.

skybell is coming out with a new model soon, hence (I think) the price drop

although all these are utilize through the app which is fine but I want one that has a say 7" led screen that you can hardwire to it and mount it inside the house close to the door so i can get instant feedback to see who's at the door if i'm walking to it or if the kids or grandparent are at home and they may not be that tech savvy. anyone know of one like that?

well for me not a big deal but for like i say for the kids or elderly more of an extra safety feature. Plus my door if I get close enough the person outside and see the shadow through the obscured glass so I want the led display as an added option.
