Neewer 35mm f/1.7 Manual Focus Prime Fixed Lens for SONY E-Mount Digital Cameras @Rakuten $79.99 + FS

I recently bought a Sony alpha camera and I am getting to know the lenses better. A fast 50 mm prime is recommended by everybody but did not want to spend ~400$ on it.
Came across this:

Neewer 35mm f/1.7 Manual Focus Prime Fixed Lens for SONY E-Mount Digital Cameras at Rakuten [rakuten.com]

$79.99+FS

Has pretty good reviews on amazon [amazon.com]. 4.6 rating.

This lens is comparable to Sony SEL35F18 [amazon.com] which is generally 400$ but please keep in mind

This is a completely MANUAL lens. NO AUTOFOCUS. Aperture needs to be set manually as well. NO OSS

A nice review on youtube [youtube.com] comparing this Neewer with Sony.

Should be good for somebody learning photography without breaking the bank.

Does have some lens distortion which can be corrected by Sony E-mount 20mm profile in Light Room under lens profile corrections.

Why would you buy this instead of an old Minolta or Olympus lens and a cheap adapter?

That is a weird question. Why would you buy a lens and an adapter when you can just get lens?

This company can go fark themselves

I bought one of the flash and never used it. So I listed it on Amazon. They sent multiple harassing email every day and threaten to take down my Amazon Seller account.

I was selling it as used - like new, and they claimed it is inauthentic and illegal.

the future.

b) send us confirmation after you remove the product as issue from your listing.

If you don't comply with these demands, we'll have no choice but to
file an official claim with the Amazon.com Seller Performance
Department, which will seriously impact your Amazon performance.

for older NEX systems, this may be alright but to use on a6000 and above, personally think its a sin to use manual lenses.

Yeah turning on focus peaking would help but I'd hate to use this as a primary lens. The EVFs in the latest cameras are good but still a bit of a pain to tell what's in focus and what's not.

Completely agree with you. I just want to see if photography sustains my interest over long term before I start throwing big money at it.

It may sound absurd, but they can definitely do it on Amazon.

All Brand owners can request Amazon to take down other sellers listings and they just need to claim authenticity issues. It would hurt your seller performance.

Bought SEL35F18 two years ago at $350. It is still between that range 350-400 and it will be in the next couple years. Point is, it is good to invest on great lens as they don't really depreciate in values.

Can you still hassle them tho? Return their shitty flash back to them? Or file A to Z claim saying the flash is defective or anything. They are entitled to return you full amount.

nah, the flash is fine. I just have a better one so I never use it. Now I am just stuck with it and maybe I should sell it on eBay.
