ATTN: THIS IS A TARGETED OFFER - IF YOU WERE NOT OFFERED IT DIRECTLY FROM BOA...YOU WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY NOT GET THE BONUS

Purpose of this thread:

1) inform users of the deal
2) determine HOW to get the deal IF you are like me and do not have access to traditional Direct Deposit(DD) due to being self employed

Note: I Welcome anyone's input with a BOA checking account who can confirm which bank's ACH transfers count as DD and trigger the BOA $300 checking bonus. Prefer facts and NOT speculation please :-)

Note 2: I'm really surprised this data hasn't been preserved or discussed into a working database/website - most of what i found online is VERY outdated and also unreliable.

Details:
1Eligibility: Offer only available to Bank of America customers and employees who receive this offer via a direct communication from Bank of America. New personal checking account must be opened by April 15, 2017. Bank of America may change or terminate this offer before this date without notice. You are not eligible for this offer if you were a signer on or owner of a Bank of America personal checking account within the last six (6) months.

Requirements to Receive the $300 Checking Account bonus: (1) Open a new Bank of America Core Checking® OR Bank of America Interest Checking® personal checking account by April 15, 2017, in a participating financial center, online, or via phone AND (2) set up and receive Qualifying Direct Deposits equaling a total of $4000 or more in your new personal checking account within 90 days from account opening. A "Qualifying Direct Deposit" is a recurring direct deposit of a paycheck, pension, Social Security or other eligible regular monthly income, electronically deposited by an employer or an outside agency into your new checking account. A transfer done via ATM, online, or teller, or a transfer from a bank or brokerage account, Merrill Edge® or Merrill Lynch® account is not a Qualifying Direct Deposit. Qualifying Direct Deposits must be received in your new personal checking account within 90 days from account opening.

Additional Terms and Conditions: If you meet all the Requirements to Receive the $300 Checking Account bonus, we will attempt to deposit the earned bonus directly into your new personal checking account within sixty (60) days of meeting the qualifications for the earned bonus. New personal checking account must be open up to and including the date the bonus is paid in order to receive the bonus.

All account applications are subject to our normal approval process. The minimum deposit required to open a Bank of America Core Checking® account is $25. The minimum deposit required to open a Bank of America Interest Checking® account is $100 and the Annual Percentage Yield (APY) for this account accurate as of today's date, can be found by selecting the account at https://www.bankofamerica.com/dep...t-rates.go. The rates may change after the account is opened and may vary by state. Fees may reduce earnings. Please consult a financial center, visit bankofamerica.com or see the Personal Schedule of Fees Opens link in a new window for other account fees, rates and information.

Your account does not qualify for the bonus until you provide all of the information we require in connection with opening the account by the promotion end date. This includes information we require to identify each account owner and to report the bonus to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including a validly completed IRS Form W-9 or Form W-8 (as applicable). To the extent required by law, Bank of America may withhold tax or other amounts from the payment. Please consult your tax advisor, as neither Bank of America, its affiliates, nor their employees provide tax advice. Reproduction, purchase, sale, transfer or trade of this offer is prohibited. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer and is limited to one bonus per new personal checking customer and account. Offer does not apply to business or second or multiple personal checking accounts.

That page says "*This exclusive offer is only for select Bank of America® customers who don't already have a personal checking account with us and who received an email or direct communication from Bank of America, or have seen the offer when signed into Online or Mobile Banking."

I was able to trigger the offer by withdrawing to my BofA from my AMEX Serve account. I had previously tried with transferring from my Capital One 360 account, but that did NOT work. The only thing is that it was kind of a pain to load enough money into my Serve account to DD the required $4000; they've made it very difficult to load a large amount nowadays. I couldn't load directly from my bank account anymore; tried depositing via personal check a couple times, but got denied/rejected both times; there's also daily/monthly limits from loading through debit and/or credit, so I just ended up loading $200 at a time on a daily basis until I reached enough to transfer $2000 x 2, and it finally worked.

"The new personal checking account must be open up to and including the date any earned bonus is paid in order to receive the bonus."

Unlike Chase checking account bonuses, you don't appear to have to keep the account open for 6 months (or any period of time beyond the date your bonus is deposited). BoA was slower than Chase to deposit my bonus, however it was within a couple weeks of meeting the requirement.
