Freedompop unlimited talk/text/1GB plan $79.99

While trying to activate my ringplus phone on Freedompop, I came across this plan on Freedompop website (www.freedompop.com)
ANNUAL 1GB plan:
Unlimited talk
Unlimited text
1GB data per month

For $79.99 per year. Device activation charges may apply. But I feel this is very good plan under $10 per month (average).

Note: click "No Thanks" on free first month trial offer page to reveal this plan

Isn't this same as the "free" plan offered ? Why would you pay 80 dollars when it is offered free ?

The free plan is 200 minutes, 500 texts, 512mb LTE.

You can upgrade it to 1GB by adding Freedom Friends and if you use Google Voice with it you essentially get unlimited texts... And of course you could choose to do your calling through Google Voice and Hangouts Dialer, but calls made through the FreedomPop app don't count against your data allotment whereas calls made with other apps do.

reasonable deal for those who WANT to talk a lot. Because once you're on freedom pop, there won't be a whole lot of talking you can do.

I would stay away from FreedomPop, it does not work well if you don't have the premium voice feature which is another $7.99 per month. Voice over data does not really work because the data speed is slow in "most locations" especially inside buildings. To be able to use this service and not having repeat yourself 30 times in a 10 minute conversation it is a must to have premium feature which will allow you to use the service over voice just like any other sprint phone regardless of data speed.

The premium voice feature is $3.99/mon. $7.99 is for premium plus which also include things like data roll over, MMS, voice mail, MMS etc. which Google Voice offers for free. So if you want to receive calls in a bad data coverage area, just pay $3.99/mon extra which you can change any time as you see fit.
