In this forum, we are all here to help each other and learn. (Crikey. Almost two years since I have joined and someone had to explain what a particular smiley meant just last week. Stick Out Tongue) I learned something from a wise q girl a long time ago...."A coupon is a form of payment." Armed with that knowledge, don't fear using the q as long as you are using them as the manufacturer states.

I know there are a couple of websites around that offer to teach you how to coupon shop for a fee. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you there is NO NEED to pay anyone a fee to learn to shop. Smilie All you need is SD and the coupon love you can get here is amazing.

Coupon shopping takes one thing....the confidence to learn and try. It can be scary but you can do it. Again, no need to pay someone. There are many many Jedi masters here that like to help Padawans.

I know it seems like SD can be overwhelming. Especially for those with little time to peruse the entire board. Here are some of my fave threads...

Here's a thread with the rules. I like it because the first two posts have a good list of abbreviations for nooblets. There is some really good info in it too. Not just boring old rules....

Thread with suggestions and ideas for coupon organization.. ** Credit goes to mrsjawshewa and NCSUFire**

2012 Coupon Insert Schedule

Where can I use store q and manu q on the same item? TYVM Plgffl & MommieD
  • Target- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q on one item.
  • CVS- Yes you can use a cvs q and a manu q on each item.
  • Publix- Yes you can use a publix q and a manu q on each item.
  • Kroger- You can use Kroger coupons with manu q's, but not e-coupons (electronic coupons; such as shortcuts, cellfire, Kroger loadable coupons, etc).. *the register no longer allows for both an EQ and MQ to be used together on one item*
  • Walgreens- Yes you can use a wag q and a manu q. (Register won't allow more coupons than items in order) *always use the MQ first, then the Walgreens IVC (instant value coupon)*
  • Petsmart& PetCo- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q at those stores.
  • Rite-Aid- I beleive you can, I have , but I am not sure of the official policy.
  • Update on Rite-Aid policy: They do allow store q along with manufacturer q's. This was told to me by a store manager when I was in CA recently.
  • Meijer - Yes you can use Meijer Mealbox or Meijer discount Q's from ads with a manu q.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club - register flags possible duplicate but allows both BJ's and manu q.
Those are the only stores that I know of or that I have shopped at that have both store coupons and mq.

Add to the list of stores that accept both coupons on one item: Safeway and Albertsons and Fred Meyer.

The best thing is to email your stores and ask for a copy of their official coupon policy.

Not really a "new couponer" but new to this... I am in the process of finishing up a move to Kansas City, Missouri and the Price Chopper here (there is a price chopper in the NE that covers about 4 states up there and then a Price Chopper that covers a little of MO and KS -- they have different websites, but kind of similar colors and programs, so I'm not sure how related they are). Most of the threads I can dig up are regarding the one in the NE. If anyone here is in the KC metro area and can offer directions to a place where Price Chopper is discussed that would be awesome, or if you want to give me a kickstart on learning the ropes (particularly its gas program) that would be awesome.

The promo information does not seem to address whether the money spent threshold is pre-or-post coupon? Nor does it seem obvious if certain gift cards would count, etc. I'll probably just start digging in with some trial and error, but if there was a site somewhere (or thread here that I didn't notice with all the NE threads) that would be awesome.

I think it might be a little light, since half of the price choppers are in Kansas (and Kansas is a post-coupon tax state, so couponers seem to be a little more sparse in those places).

Coupon clipping services sorting methods
I ordered coupons from a new clipping service. I am upset because they sorted coupons in piles of 10 and stapled each set neatly together in the middle of the coupon. I removed staples but each have the neat little holes and I am afraid they will be considered gang-cut...even if I use them in smaller transactions. I am afraid they will be rejected when offered for redemption. I know that if ANY are rejected they consider the WHOLE lot the store sends in as rejected, not just the ones that dont make the cut....any suggestions?

Ok, didn't realize this was a common practice. I am sure it makes it easier not having to recount qs before shipment. The place I normally order from does not do this so I was unsure. Thanks for responding!Smilie

Hi there is there any reason why weekly Safeway deals aren't mentioned in this forum? I see weekly threads put up for Walgreens, CVS and RiteAid but none for Safeway. Is Walgreens just better value?

The grocery chains tend to have ongoing threads, probably because their sales can be biweekly, monthly, start & end at odd times due to catalina promos etc.

gang cut coupons is googleable without fear.

basically the term came into being during a sting when small mom and pop stores were swiping all inserts and turning in the coupons without papers ever being sold.

the sting occurred when they put out a coupon for a non existent laundry soap. The store s that turned in MQ for redemption were busted

so basically it refers to line em up and cut em

it was coined a phrase when it was line em up cut em and turn in falsely

all that said I sort and cut mine ten at a time Big Grin

Thank you for the information. I did google it and came up with some redemption centers that mentioned retailers should look for gang cut coupons because clipping services gang cut and if the redemption centers suspects the coupons the whole lot will be refused including non gang cut coupons. I was just concerned the retailers would be denied and make them less coupon friendly.
Maybe I was over thinking it, lol!

Hello , I saw Walgreens has different coupon books. There is one book strictly mentioned the coupon must used with Walgreens cards. Also there are other books which comes from the diabetes shelf, birth control bla bla. It only said can be redeem in walgreens.are they supposed to be used in the other store? I am confused.. I saw lots of ppl take the coupon book to use it in Kroger ????
