Check to see if your current Dehumidifier is covered by a recall, mine was. They offered free replacement or $132.32 cash...I choose replacement. There is a fire risk, hence the recall.

Mine is a 70pint Frigidaire and only a few years old.

Bought the 70pt dehumidifier last Saturday and it works great. Already pulled over 20 Gallons of water out of our Garage... too bad that the VISA promo does not apply retro-active - but I rather stopped the moldy smell sooner than later...

I can't speak to the brand but if you have breathing issues due allergies caused by mold, bacteria, dust mites or anything else activated by excessive moisture, look into getting one of these. Do some research, I can say it saved my life.

Have the 70pt and it works great! Used in Texas during the summer last year and was having to dump every 2-3days depending on humidity level

My advice with any of these dehumidifiers is buy the extended warranty. They are prone to failure after a year or two. Fridgidaire's warranty service takes about 2 months to get your Visa refund card. So if you turn it on in May and discover it is broken, it might be August until you get reimbursed. This I learned from experience during the 90% humidity of a Midwest summer.

I love mine. It was shipped with broken pieces of plastic but they gave me a discount. Probably was too heavy for the mailman Wink .And nothing was wrong with it after 2 years of use. I say get the big tank if you get lots of humidity and like to dump it by hand. They do have the hose hookup if you prefer.

The 70 pint unless you intend to use the 30 pint units quite some distance apart.

I despise extended warranties but you make a valid point. I've had three Frigidaire 70s fail on me. First two times they offered to replace outside of warranty. Third time I had to push for replacement and they gave me one eventually. Each time I had to pay $20 fee for swap. While I've had luck getting "free" replacements, I'm now considering their warranty as it's almost a certainty that the two I have running will fail. Strange thing is that they are not really being overworked.

Perfect timing. Was in need of one. I have a Frigidaire 70 pint unit which has been going strong for past 3 years. Needed another one for my second house. Thanks OP!

My first 70 pint lasted for just one season and then started frosting up. The hassle of Frigidaire's warranty system made me realize the small price of an extended warranty would be worth far more than my frustration of dealing with them again.
