It allows you to place it inline for QoS so if you're streaming videos on youtue while in a call it prioritizes the phone call, making a smoother calling experience. Note that you can do that (QoS) with most middle-high end models (prioritize which packet (data) is sent and received first on the router).

The router is pretty slow. Obihai claims 30 Mb/s with no calls active. If you're on a faster connection, it can be bypassed.

Unless you have a requirement to connect two separate phone (systems) which both will be in use simultaneously on separate calls, the OBI 200 is a much better buy and on sale for $35 right now at Newegg.

Thanks was wondering but didn't take the time to look it up, I'd agree with going with the Obi200, main reason I'd go 202 is if you need two phone jacks.

This is probably an expensive way to get a two phone-jacks! I just bought a phone jack splitter for my Obi200. That said, Obi202 has lot more advanced features than Obi200 but my needs were modest when I bought my Obi200

You can get two calls, so it's also a questions of how many simultaneous calls you want.
