I love Apple routers. They're not fancy and don't have tons of bells and whistles, but they are rock-solid reliable and virtually never need to be restarted.

This router retails for $190, but Best Buy is selling them refurbished for $110. Total price is $85 after the $25 Visa Checkout credit.

This is the lowest price I've ever seen for this router.

Warranty is 90 days, that's the only downside.

This is the newest Airport Extreme that supports 802.11AC.

I have 7 total Airport Extreme, Airport Express and Time Capsules but Apple announced a few weeks ago that they will stop support these so I wouldn't recommend buying them at this point.

Agreed, though I am using a Time Capsule myself and am absolutely loving it. It's really sad that Apple decided not to continue their router business but it's understandable.

Bought a refurb of the prior version and it crapped out on me in less than a year. I had an Apple TV so apple sold me AppleCare for $30 and under AppleCare gave me a new router. The new one has been working for several years.

Do you have a source for that information?

I follow Apple news pretty closely and I think you're mistaking the rumor that Apple may be leaving the router market with "they're not going to support them any more." That was just a rumor, and even if true, Apple typically supports their technology for 5-6 years after it's been discontinued.

This is 2013 tech and Apple won't make any wireless router any more.

I bought an old 5th Gen from Best Buy refurb and it is still running strong as a bridge to my PC. I have this model as my main router at home for fios. Great all around performance.

The best router out there in terms of reliability. Too bad they plan not to make them anymore.

I bought one of these last year, refurb from bestbuy. Needs to be restarted at least twice a week.

And yes, they're out of the router business. Engineers have been reassigned to Apple TV. I wouldn't expect firmware updates for much longer.

Since these are pretty old tech in router years, any modern 1750/1900 nighthawk or google wifi would have a much longer life span.

Apple still sells this router on Apple.com and hasn't announced any plans to discontinue it.

While I do believe they're leaving the router business, they'll definitely continue supporting these routers for years to come. Apple doesn't discontinue products then simply stop supporting them.

My friend lives in a packed area of San Francisco and his router has needed restarting once a week or so.

I live in a regular suburban neighborhood and mine works perfectly; it almost never needs restarting.

Your urban congestion may affect performance, but that's true with most routers.

Apple is exiting the router business but they've said they will continue to support them.

I have an Airport Express and it's been rock solid for a couple of years. As for it being "old tech" there's really been very little progress in router tech in the past 10 years or so. The only really new things are the mesh network routers. Those are very cool but expensive.
