Updates on Total Wireless ?

574 485 February 19, 2017 at 04:57 PM
I have talked a buddy into jumping ship from VZ for Total Wireless. He bought a new Note 4 off Ebay today.

My concern is that this phone needs a lot of updates to be current. Does TW send updates? If not, how can I get the Note 4 updated? He has an existing VZ post paid account, but he has a flip phone, so I'm not sure if the Note 4 could even be swapped with his flip phone on his current plan in order to get the updates before bailing.

Any advice?

Thanks. Do you get these update files from Verizon or Samsung?

I was going to get another $0.99 TF sim from BB. It worked great for my transition over to TW. Just don't tell the Rep that it is a TF sim if you activate by phone. I did and he shut me down, telling me the TF sim would not work for TW, so I activated online instead and the TF sim worked fine. My TW service was active with my number ported from VZ in just a few minutes.

i think it's verizon.
because not all company roll out the same firmware at the same time, and sometimes one decided to stop supporting but others still have new firmware coming. and last year's Note 7, Samsung needs to ask Verizon to brick the phones.
