I have been watching these for a while and this is about as cheap as they get offered.

Only the "Satin Nickel" is offered at this price.

Home Depot website says the price is good through 3/29/17.

Do yourself a giant favor and get this paired with a Smartthings hub and use the custom lock app and device handler from rboy. It gives you complete control over the lock, battery notifications, scheduled codes etc.

I have a rather basic back door (knob kind). Would something like this work on that type door?

This is for a deadbolt not the knob.

As long as you have a deadbolt in the door this should work.

I bought a 2 of these around Black Friday for more than this. I am totally happy with them. These are the highest rated security deadbolts you can get at the consumer level. I usually just use the touchpad, but I have it integrated with my smarthings hub too and can make sure doors are locked when I am remote.

Showing $135.12 for me right now. Even a better deal! I'd buy more of these if I had a need.

Thanks - so an even more dumb question - that means I'd still need a key for entry for the door knob right?

Extensive reviews here: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/...mart-lock/

This Schlage lock -- title should say this, by the way -- is well-reviewed. And it works with SmartThings, but I don't think it has HomeKit compatibility. Best as I can tell, it's an entirely different model that supports HK.

You get one of the handles that doesn't lock: http://www.schlage.com/en/home/pr...esets.html or just don't lock the knob

Or for the knob below just use a regular lock knob and don't install the plunger. It'll turn but will never "catch". And the deadbolt is the only lock.

I have a Camelot connect on my front door now. Been working fine for a couple months. Now today I noticed this morning it was reporting unlocked but someone here at the house said it was locked. I tried locking it with the app and the status would never fully change to "locked".
Finally after a half hour it did update to locked.

Then tonight same thing. I'm sitting here seeing it's locked and the app is reporting unlocked. Pressing the button on the app only causes it to try and lock but status bmever goes to locked.

Any ideas how to fix this or what's wrong? I've not moved nor unplugged anything in the house to change its perfect dunctiinality
