These are great. What a good deal I think I paid 35-40 for mine (and I'm on my second one in 3 kids) and worth it at that price. I may see about grabbing another one just in case.

Rebates are $10 each. Would Exergen apply/honor two rebates on same item. Essentially saying same item is received as a gift, while i purchased it also.

How reliable are these? I've purchased these types before and didn't feel like I could trust them because wildly different readings upon each swipe across the forehead. That was after reading instructions and carefully following the procedure. Temp swings been 4 and 8 degrees F difference. That's a difference between a low grade fever and life threatening fever.

I have seen this type of thermometer used at a doctors office / urgent care. That said, I don't know what brand, it doesn't preclude this style being difficult to use, etc etc.

In other news, out of stock online. And it's clear from the rebate forms that you're not supposed to file as both the gifter and giftee mother (why can't it be parent damnit!).

We've had one of these for several years. It works, but will give different readings over several scans across the forehead. Usually, we'll make four or five swipes, and use the reading that shows up the most out of those swipes. Maybe they've perfected it over the years and it gives more precise readings now? If we're in doubt about the reading, we still have an old style mercury thermometer as a backup.

If you buy 3, can you submit 2 rebates or would you need to submit it in 6 different mails?

I practiced with this until I felt comfortable that I was doing it correctly. Compared readings to the regular thermometer we were using prior. On our second baby now and I fully trust our exergen
