This looks like a great deal.

I think the Newegg photos might be wrong, though. The rear panel photo shows 3 HDMI ports and a DVI port, which is different than the listed specs and Microcenter photos.

I think you are correct on that, Newegg probably showing a similar model's picture which comes with a slim chassis. This model has one HDMI. Also newegg Product specs has listed it to have 1x HDMI and 1x VGA, only the images show 2x HDMI.

if you look at Acer's website for other "ATC-780*" models, that isn't even the same chassis. all the 780s are in a more sleek/curved case
and Acer specs say two HDMI ports

This particular model is probably is a new release and not available yet in Acer store. And there are two series if TC-780, one with slim chassis and one with more Mid-tower design. I think this model is successor of the below model:

do these have a standard psu, or can 300W support an additional full sized graphics card?

Yes, it has a Full ATX PSU, so upgrade is pretty easy. And yes, it can accommodate a standard sized GPU.

I'm curious. It says there are two M.2 ports but only one available. Why is one used? Isn't that only for SSD drives? And does anyone know, is that a SATA III M.2 port? I would like to add a SSD and a graphics card to this. I think it would make a decently performing computer?
