Am I the only one who hates "smart" TVs? Even on high-end models, the smart TV functions never work as well or as smoothly as a separate Roku or Apple TV. And you can update your Roku/Apple/Google TV device every couple years relatively cheaply to get the latest and greatest features and performance. Whereas I tend to keep my TVs a lot longer than that and the internal smart hardware is going to be totally outdated/outclassed in no time. It's just a terrible idea all around.

Alas, if you want a decent mid to high-end TV days, you're going to have to pay extra for the useless smart functions.

Not sure where their TVs are actually being made today (made by Amtran last I checked before LeEco purchased Vizio) but Vizio was fined $2.2 million this month for having a program in their Smart TVs (since 2014) that sent the company all of the users viewing habits amongst other info, without their consent.

Not that any of this has anything to do with this JVC set, which looks to be a great deal! TU and repped the OP.

Me too! No more Roku & definitely no Smart TVs. Too limited in their app selections, spotty wifi connections & too slow/glitchy. I've tried Vizio, TCL, Hisense, Samsung all with similar results. In one way or another they're always disappointing. No more for me. I am strictly Fire Stick. Has all my apps I need, DirecTV Now (not even on Roku yet) & KODI too which is never coming to Roku or any smart tv.
