These are bigger rolls and a better deal than the Amazon deal that was frontpage last month.

Costco: 8 rolls at 54.6 yards each = 432 yards of tape for $15.99, which is 3.7 cents per yard

Last month's Amazon deal: 6 rolls at 22 yards each = 132 yards of tape for $8.38, or 6.3 cents per yard. (And currently it's higher at $9.82 w/ subscribe and save)

Item #: 415022

Price good through 3/12/17

Link on Google Express (showing price even lower at $15.39, for my area at least)

My math is not always reliable, but I believe your deal is even better.$15.99 ÷ 432 yds = .0370¢ / yd.

FYI, this stuff goes bad (loses it's stickiness; turns into cling-on) if unused. Figured mine was 6-7 years old, been stored in the dark at 64-74 degrees. Couldn't even get it to stick to a brand new box. Had to toss a couple rolls.

6-7 years old... I don't think tape has an expiration, but logically I don't know if I'd expect it to last that long. That said, a few years ago I had a batch of 3M tape that wouldn't stick after a year (it actually wasn't even that good new). I contacted 3m and they told me they'd changed the formulation recently and sent me a new package to try. The new stuff worked fine (and did so for the 3 years it took to use it up.

YMMV.

Btw, has anyone compared this HD Scotch to the similarly priced Duck HD on Amazon [amazon.com]? They're so close in price I'd prefer to get the "better" (whichever that is).

If you look at the reviews on Amazon, a lot of the recent reviews say the Duck brand tape is not strong enough for cardboard boxes.
