Cheap AR in case anyone is looking. Seems to be about $40-50 less than usual price.

Too bad there are no customer reviews on that page. I'd be curious to know how people rate a $400 AR-15

I's spend a few extra bucks and pick up an M&P15 Sport II personally.

As long as you clean it - like the buffer and spring - then it's a great gun. Red dot reticles are easy and affordable to apply. You might even find a yewtube or two on it.

Pretty decent reviews around the various forums for an entry level AR. Probably a good gun for those new to shooting the AR platform or for the kids to enjoy while the serious shooter pumps their tax returns in to something more versatile.

For $399, the Del-Ton looks to be pretty decent, but I've never tried one.

The M&P15 is nice too, though IMHO too pricey for it's class. Personally -- for a basic "plinking" gun -- I just prefer to pickup a decent stripped lower (Cabela's has them for $49 this week), a parts kit from the gun show, grip, stock, etc, and the complete upper of your choice (I've had good luck with Palmetto and Anderson -- you can also occasionally find decent no-name uppers on sale at Brownell's that are actually quite nice and reasonably accurate). Given a bit of effort, it's not all that hard to put together a decent rifle with a full flat-top and/or keymod/M-LOK grip for well under $399.

On the other end of the spectrum, I really like LWRC M6IC.

I'm mainly just trying to verify that paying $1k for my M&P15t was a good decision. I should stop...

Pretty good deal for a basic AR. It's a good starting place if you wanted to get into the sport and have some hesitations about building one. You could probably assemble one from scratch for about this price (with some deal hunting) now that prices have gone down pretty significantly but you wouldn't get a warranty with that obviously.

It should be noted that you can do local pickup in the DFW area and avoid the FFL fee. The grabagun storefront is in Copell not far from the DFW airport.
Of course there is sales tax for Texas residents.

Do I need another AR? Is 25+ enough for home defense? One for every door, window, entry point, and peep hole..... or do I still need another? $400 is a pretty low price.... if it jams I could still hit you over the head with it, lol. I just don't think I need another one.

I was trying to figure out where SD put this thread and did a search from the SD front page. No hits searching for AR-15, grabagun or del-ton. I didn't even know about this subforum... glad nobody posted this deal already as my search wouldn't have found it.

No really, I'm considering it. $400 is tempting. You never can tell when they'll outlaw these and then only outlaws will have them.

I got this last go around. It shoots well and I did not have a malfunctions out of 120 rounds. For 408 out the door I'm happy. It does have a dust cover and forward assist.

The M&P15t is a nice rifle -- but if you paid over $1K for it, you did NOT get a Slick Deal. I would never go more than $900 on one -- and it took less than a minute to find one NIB online right now for $820 without even trying.

Personally, I'd never pay over $1K for an AR unless it was a piston.
