Saw this ad and figured I'd see what it was about. Promo is a free fire stick with a one month subscription (after free 7 day trial). After tax, I paid a total of $37.36. Don't forget to cancel before auto-renewal.

I, like probably many others on SD, am debating keeping my DirecTV Now with the 3 month trial coming to an end. I get no local channels in my area and the biggest turnoff for me is no access to third party apps other than Disney-owned apps (Disney, Disney XD, Disney Junior, ESPN). If DirecTV expects people to pay $70 for this package then they are going to find lots of frustrated viewers. $40 is not a bad price ($35/mo promo price but $5 HBO Go for me), but I'm getting what I pay for.

How do you purchase this and get the firestick with the $16 cashback? When I go thru the cashback site, it does not goto your promo site.

I used the cashback site's browser extension, but in the past, I've always used the link from the website to activate the cashback, then manually pasted the link for the promo. I've never had an issue with this before, but to be safe, the extension works well.

Maybe worth it after cashback. If you're interested in DirecTV now stay away. No DVR= and crap on demand makes it a no go for me.

I still get freezes on the Apple TV which is completely useless to me without the DirecTV which expires in about what 15 days? I am new to the cord cutting. is there a comparable service for about the same as the dtv promo price of 35?

I still have many issues with DirecTV. Lot's of freezing, buffering, reboots, etc. Add to that no Roku support, no DVR, no locals, no access to most network direct Apps. After my 90 days are up I'm leaving.

yeah, don't buy this deal for the service because it sucks.
tons of freezing and buffering. and you can't watch any shows tagged "new" on-demand, it will just throw some generic network error. after the "new" tag expires the shows will play fine.

You people are such haters. DirectTV Now does not suck - it is new and will get a lot better from 2 of the biggest providers in US. You cannot get live local tv ON ANY web streaming TV service (Sling, Due, etc) unless you are in certain markets so don't listen to this garbage. They have tested in most major markets and will eventually spread elsewhere. On Demand is not bad and for great shows on networks like FX, it is easily worth $35 a month for cable cutters.

Yes I have a Roku and wish it would come soon but getting a "free" Fire stick or "free" Apple TV (for less than the cost of an actual Apple TV) makes that irrelevant. Roku will come. You cannot beat HBO for $5 a month as well if you find the service half useful.

On DTV Now on my Fire stick there is an option for Networks that brings up tiles of the available networks and when you click on a network it shows any available on demand episodes of their shows.
On my Apple TV 4 I don't see this option. Is there a way of accessing this on the ATV other than using the Search function for individual shows?

I was one of the people who signed up for the $35 and get a free Amazon Fire TV if paying 3 months. The service BLEW the first 4-5 weeks, freezing and channels were locking up, all kinds of problems. The past 3-4 weeks have been no issues what so ever. DirectTV Now app doesn't lock up like it used to, channels don't freeze, buffering is really minimal and maybe once a night we experience it.

The service has really turned around, I guess because everyone was complaining about how crap-tastic it was at the beginning. We will be continuing the service because NOW it is a service that I want to pay for. If you asked me if I wanted to keep it back in January, I would laugh at you and say no way. Now however, the service is good and I recommend it to anyone I can.
