PSA: Last chance to download community toy boxes for Disney Infinity on consoles is March 3rd

I know PSAs aren't popular and perhaps they don't belong in Hot Deals, but that's where everyone looks. I know I've been grateful to see some PSAs in Hot Deals in the past.

Anyway, for those who have Disney Infinity 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, basically my understanding is that today and tomorrow are your last chance to grab and download toy boxes for consoles (PS3, PS4, X360, XOne, Wii-U). When a company says something shuts down on the 3rd, I don't know if that means beginning or end of the day, so assume March 2.

From https://infinity.disney.com/
"Disney Infinity will discontinue all online services of the game on March 3, 2017. You can still log in and enjoy your favorite Play Sets and create your own toy boxes from now until March 3, 2017. Thank you for everything."

I hope this will start a discussion and maybe we can share some info. I've started messing around with this on the PS3 and PS4, and it's tricky. Google shows no useful info in any thread I've read describing the 100 slots for 1.0 or the 300 slots for 2.0 or 3.0. It's staggering how little info is available for a once popular game. My best guess so far is the slots refer to the number of toy boxes you can stuff into 1 save file and they are NOT tied to your online Infinity profile. It appears every toy box I download causes the save file to grow. Sadly save files are tied to profiles, so if you download 100 or 300 toy boxes to a save file, you can transport that save file to other consoles but it would only be usable by that 1 profile.

I have no idea what the Infinity online account accomplishes regarding toy boxes. It may be solely to allow you to connect to see the toy boxes. I have more findings/questions to post, but I'm going to wait to see if there is any interest/discussion here or if this goes off into la-la land with the crickets.

Site is having issues, so check back later.

Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/Disney_Infinity/ .

There's a thread for best toyboxes there. https://www.reddit.com/r/Disney_I..._toyboxes/

Disney Infinity site seems to not be able to be searchable...but you can search for toybox names, toybox authors, or just any keyword in a toybox name or description by using google. Search google by putting in your search phrase and limiting your results to just toyboxes....

Example: Search for any toybox named "Frozen Ever After" or with that term in the description of the toybox....basically bypassing disney infinity searching and using google instead....

Code:
Frozen Ever After site:https://infinity.disney.com/toybox/

Any recommended Toy Boxes? I've been making some for my daughter. I also haven't gotten the Marvel Cap Toybox yet. Should I grab one now or will it work after the servers go down?

On Infinity 2.0 and 3.0, you can sort by most liked and most downloaded. That's all I can do because I don't have time to try all those toy boxes. On Infinity 1.0 I saw no ratings option, so it's a wild guess as to which are the best. And yes, I Googled on "best Infinity 1.0 toy boxes" or 2.0 or 3.0, and I never found any lists. I found a bunch of Youtube video links, but I don't have time to watch videos of toy boxes. Much faster just to download blindly.

With 300 slots (AFAIK separate for each Infinity and not across all versions) for 2.0 and 3.0 and 100 slots for 1.0, I think you can get most if not all of the good toy boxes.

I'm also assuming (based on what I've read in the past) that after March 3rd, even though Infinity servers will shut down for consoles, we will still be able to access our saved toy boxes. It would be most disappointing if the game on each console won't let you load any toy boxes you downloaded if it can't connect online. I hope they didn't require that or at least patched that part. I also hope that all the Infinity patches remain active past March 3rd on PSN and XBL.

Regardless, I've not been able to find any deep discussions of these issues on the Infinity community pages or any Infinity related website. All I can ever find is when the servers are shutting down and "download your toy boxes now while you can". No details how best to do it or which toy boxes are best, etc. Like I said in the OP, I was shocked how little info is out there. I also can't tell you how many times I search on certain subjects on Google and the only results discussing the issue are actually my prior unanswered posts on this site. I get all excited... somebody discussing my subject... only to find out it was me asking the question.

OK, so I have gathered copies of the games and several figures because of the many slickdeals for Infinity stuff. I have yet to play any of the games. Is there something I should be doing in the next 2 days to ensure I can play? Everything I have should work, just not community created toy boxes, correct?

On which console? Feel free to share any insights on the save files or how it works if you've figured it out. I've only worked on PS3/PS4 so far (there is no Infinity 1.0 PS4), and it appears (as I posted above) that the toy boxes get mashed into 1 or 2 toy world save files which I believe are locked to your profile meaning you should be able to move those files to other consoles and use those toy boxes within the same profile only.

I don't know how it works on X360/Xbone. If anyone knows, PLEASE post. I'd be grateful for any tips or if anyone wants to post a list of which toy boxes (and which Infinity version) are best or wastes of time. We basically have 2 days left to grab what's good.

AFAIK, you can't delete a downloaded toy box out of your slots, but I think the slots are just how much space is in your save file. You could probably make a new PS3/PS4 profile and start a new save file with 100/300 slots.

AFAIK, it's just the community toy boxes that are going away, but there are some pretty cool ones (and some really crappy ones too). Everything else is SUPPOSED to keep working for consoles. The free PC versions got killed (without me knowing) months ago, and the free Steam versions became not free (again... happened before I knew I needed to get those), so even though I added every figure to my online Infinity profile for PC, I can never play the PC version not having gotten the free Steam versions and not going to pay a lot of money when I already have them on each console, except Wii-U. I've never touched a Nintendo system in my life. Nothing personal... everyone I know is a PC, Sony and/or MS guy.

I would log into just to update the version at least, but getting toyboxs are useful to expand the paysets

This is helpful, thanks. Awhile back I downloaded most of the popular titles and all of the ones made by the Disney folks themselves (I'm not sure if they're included in this shutdown, but it appears likely).

Not sure if I'll get a chance to d/l any more, but anything with over 100,000 downloads is probably a good bet to squirrel away.

I honestly thought I had until the 31st. Don't know if I'll be able to get the online trophies in time.

Are trophies tied to online servers? I always thought they were built into the game as achievements and totally independent, but I'm someone who could care less about trophies so I don't think it will be a big concern.

I'd love for people to post more detailed info on how the toybox download game save files work and can be backed up and moved to other consoles if people have tried it. It would help everyone.

Remember if you lose your files or the consoles dies, those toy boxes are gone forever after March 3rd, so backing them up is important.

Unfortunately I know I'm going to have to spend a couple hours each night for the next 2 nights working on blindly downloading for PS3, PS4, X360 and Xbone for each Infinity version. 1.0 is nasty in that it pops you to the top of the list every time you download requiring a lot of slow scrolling. Worse yet, I believe you have to repeat this for every gamer profile on each console that might want to play Infinity, otherwise everyone will have to share the same profile to use the same toy box save file. These are the details inquiring minds want to know! Big Grin

There is a stickied megathread with recommendations for toy boxes. There aren't really that many, but a lot of them weren't showing up under "most liked/downloaded" so I wouldn't have found them otherwise. You definitely will be able to play downloaded toy boxes, but anything with online leaderboards will no longer have the online features.
