not sure about him, but for me it didn't matter about service. it's about the area code, my 402 area code isn't eligible

Why are they excluding that area code?

it's about cell coverage they own. T-Mobile proper doesn't have great coverage in Nebraska, and even they just claimed they can "own" my number. it sounds like the approval to carry my number isn't applicable to them yet. their system said "no coverage"

I bet this is relatively rare, though

It could be that they are already saturated with users in that zip? Maybe they have a high record of flippers in lieu of stayers in the zip code.

You can only port a phone number into a carrier if the carrier provides native coverage in the location that phone number originated from. The location is determined by area code + first 3 numbers.

If you activate at the same time $50 for two lines. It's the 1GB LTE data plan, normally $30, but with the $5/line group/family discount.

Number port required to get the phones free.

No, it has to do with Local Number Portability. The word "local" is used for a reason. If the carrier doesn't provide native coverage in the locality from where the number originated, then you can't port the number to that carrier.

Thanks, repped. So I could go to a MetroPCS store and get 2 free phones for $50 + taxes/fees by porting in my 2 Ting numbers?

That sounds like a pretty good deal. But the phones would be locked to MetroPCS since they would activate them in store? Could I pay for an unlock from one of the unlocking services?
