Didn't see this posted yet, but this is what I'm switching to at the end of current Verizon billing cycle, and wanted to vent about atrocious Verizon service while also sharing this deal.

I'm in Arlington VA, near DC and Verizon absolutely sucks here. I recall getting 60+ mbps downloads on Metro PCS Unlimited when I first moved here almost 2 years ago, and in fact went through 132 GB worth of data one month, unthrottled!

Verizon has consistently been a low performer in my area, around 10 mbps or less, and sometimes as low as 2 - absolutely pathetic and unacceptable for Cat 9 LTE on a Verizon branded Note 5. 3G on this Verizon phone (which lacks Band 12) on T-Mobile's network, will most likely be as fast or faster than full Verizon service in my area.

My guess is everyone here (erroneously) believes Verizon is best, so Verizon is in fact perpetually congested, while the opposite is true for T-Mobile/Metro PCS.

PS. If you have a non carrier branded phone, it is quite simple to make your own mobile hotspot outside of carrier hotspot restrictions.

Isn't T-Mobile $100 for two lines? That's 25% more.

not if you get the 20 percent off hookup code. I realize it would be the same price and I'm not sure if there are different features that would make it worthwhile for switching anyway.

Not to mention if you buy a used phone sometimes you get the "this phone is still active on another account". Lol

Does Tmo offer tethering? I know they say it is not included in the Metro plan. Well maybe the original poster was not lucky to get the 20% off code or wants the no hassle of the Metro PCS plan.

I was able to get 2 lines with 8gb of data for $60 with the app and see that I can change it again and on each line to $40 for unlimited data and still have the other line at $30. I only use about 5 to 6GB a month so my plan works well for me.

For me I had Tmo prepaid before and seem to get he same speeds.

TMO's new plans offer 10gb of LTE tethering per line.

One other negative about MetroPCS is that their speeds are deprioritized vs Tmobile postpaid and prepaid customers.

If you can swing the 20% with Tmo it is a better deal. I understood when I went to Metro that I would get slower speeds when it is congested, it was the payoff for a smaller bill. Still get great speeds.

I've had both, and as far as I recall, there is no benefit in paying more for T Mobile vs Metro PCS. Actually T Mobile is more strict with enforcing their tethering limitations, so I probably wouldn't have been able to replace home wifi on T Mobile unlimited, the way I did with Metro unlimited.

I grinned as all of Witcher 3 (52+ GB?) downloaded to PC through my phone on the $50 unlimited Metro plan in September 2015 Lol
