Any way to get a Target store to honor price of every other store?

fishkorp 229 19 March 3, 2017 at 03:19 PM
I know Target clearance is very YMMV and store independent. There's an item at my local Target that they never sold in that store, it was an online return. Scanning it at the self scanners, or at a register, says "item not found." If a CSR looks it up on target.com they say "it's $149." If they see the "as-is" sticker on it, they say "it's $104." Now, when I search that item on BrickSeek, the MSRP shows as $67.48. And every store that sells/sold the item shows that price. Every other store shows N/A. I've gone multiple times now and they won't budge from $149 or $104. Any way to get them honor the price of literally every other Target that has the item?

DPCI for those interested is 030-09-4045. The local store that physically has the item shows 0 on hand and a price of N/A, which is where the confusion is I'm sure. If they can add it to inventory would it reflect the correct price?

First off, I'm pretty sure it's right in their policy that they don't price match clearance items.

Second, why not just buy it at the full retail price, take it to one of the stores with the lower price and then try for a return/re-buy by claiming you want to switch payment methods(pay cash instead of credit, switch it to a card where you get rewards points, etc)?

Either that or return it outright to the store showing the low price and then say you changed your mind and want to re-buy it but you have other shopping to do and could you just take the item with you.

The only problem is that at stores with the lowest clearance pricing the item may have already gone to the point where it's out of their system and once you try and return the item it'll print out a SALVAGE sticker that they put on the item, thus eliminating ANY chance of buying it unless you really sweet talk the CSR(s).

So the choice is yours, but trying constantly at the first store seems like a lost cause.

Exclusions:

Clearance, closeout, liquidation sales, damaged, used, open package, refurbished, pre-owned, or rent/lease to own items, storewide or unspecific offers, non-branded items, or prices that only display on a website after guests log in.
The red highlighted section(clearance) is what the OP is trying to get them to price match and that's clearly EXCLUDED. So all their efforts are pretty much for nothing unless they take the item physically from the store with no price to one with the clearance price and hope it's not out of the system there already.

Because as I said if it's out of the system then it'll be up to the discretion of the customer service rep if they want to let them re-buy it. Chances are they won't offer it up for the last price either, especially if they see the price difference.
