I just bought this jacket http://www.ems.com/ems-men%27s-pr...00036.html

It has 80g primaloft gold, so would that mean it's warmer than this Patagonia jacket?

Would not down jacket be warmer? I know that down looses its abilities when wet, but from what I've read there is not really better filler than down for warmth.

idk about Gucci and other luxury brands, but places like Patagonia and North Face (and LL Bean) will usually repair your stuff if it breaks down... sometimes even for the normal wear and tear stuff. I've heard of plenty of stories about North Face, for example, where you take in your 8 year old jacket with a broken zipper and they'll just fix it up for you.

Also, Patagonia is a For Benefit corporation (as opposed to For Profit or Non profit), which means their investors don't hold them to just turning a monetary profit as a return for their investment. instead, they also hold them to other things, and in the case of Patagonia, it's the environmental standards and improvements... this is one of the reasons why Patagonia puts in so much effort to tell you where the materials come from and how the down in those jackets are traceable to the farm where the feathers are plucked from. That effort definitely jacks up their cost as well. So just know that when you throw your money at them, at least it's for a good cause : )
