This is a great jig, I prefer using it over the $100 K4 most of the time. You essentially get a free clamp which you'd probably be purchasing regardless to get you up an running. Not a bad deal at $40....

There's a thread on here to figure out the codes, but Lowes updated the codes. Do you have any 15 off 50?

this thing is a piece of shit. I own it and regret it.. If i had the k4 I would rather use that as it can hold the workpiece better. but in the end this pocket hole crap system does not work well for pressboard.

I am glad I got this versus K4 or K5. Much more economical than the higher end models.

It works really well. Just make sure to stock up on different size screws.
The clamp needs getting used to, but a small price to pay compared to paying more than $100 for the others.

How does the K4 hold a workpiece better? You use the R3 with a vise style clamp, there is literally nothing that the K4 does that the R3 can't do just as easily.

While pocket joinery may not be the strongest joint, it has its place in the woodworking world, so why knock it?

Yeah, I was trying to use titanium rivets on cardboard, but decided the rivets were crap because the cardboard couldn't support a big block hemi. LMAOLMAOLMAOLMAOLMAO

the r3 is such a damn joke. the clamp hah!!! its a cheap ass Chinese made shit clamp that doesn't do as well of a job as a good ol irwin quick grip clamp... the work-piece kept sliding and after 10 minutes of trying to make 1 damn hole i was like let me just use a better gripping clamp. kreg clamp or not they are all garbage in holding a work piece secure enough to keep things well aligned. if your workpiece isnt aligned you will spend a lot of time like i did!!. frustrating!!!

I ended up using my Irwin quick grip, also 1 bessey clamp did the job in holding the workpiece. I am knocking this garbage because its a waste of time and depending what youre doing I would go the old fashion route of mortise & tenon and using a router making some dove tails vs this style of joinery. Funny thing is like a true slickdealer i bought this crap on sale and it sat around till i needed to use it in a real world scenario and in the end it farking failed miserably!!! I paid 30 for this kit with the free clamp 2 black fridays ago.
