Cable Modem that works with Optimum online

42 85 March 8, 2017 at 11:22 AM
Hi,

I can't seem to find any deals on any of the modems that Optimum says they have certified. Below is the list from their website. Can someone please help? Tired of paying almost $7 month to Optimum for leasing.

Thanks

The following modems are compatible for use with our network:

Arris TM822 - 2 port 3.0 modem
Arris TM804 - 4 Port 3.0 modem
Arris TM1602 - 2 port 3.0 modem
Motorola SBV6220 3.0 modem**
Cisco DPQ3212 3.0 modem**
Cisco DPQ-3925-Static IP Router\Modem** for Small-Medium Businesses only.

Pretty much any DOCSIS 3.0 compatible modem should work with Optimum Online despite the fact that Optimum only lists a limited number of VoIP modems as compatible on their site.

[...] any modem manufactured to the DOCSIS 3.0 standard should theoretically be compatible on the Optimum network. An 8x4 modem should be the minimum considered for purchase
Be careful about buying used or recertified modems since they may not work with Optimum if they were updated to a certain firmware version and configured to use IPv6 on another carrier like Spectrum/Cox. Read more

Here's an 8x4 modem for $32 deal that I posted. Numerous user reviews [amazon.com] report success using it with Optimum Online. I don't see anything better currently.

I have 200 MBps down, what kind of cheap alternate modem will work with Optimum ?
Also on a side note my router Kasda 1900 limits my wired ( and wireless) connections to under 100 Mbps. It is a gigabit AC router how do I get it to reflect my true speed ?
P.S. when I connect my desktop to my modem directly it shows 200MBps.
Thanks in advance.
