Ughh, basic economy doesn't even allow a carry-on. All 3 legacy carriers are doing this now. Sometimes if you have a credit card you get priority boarding and that sometimes allows a carry-on.

I think for basic economy carry-ons aren't allowed at all, not even if you want to pay for them.

The only work around is a co branded credit card. If you have the Delta card you may bring it on, I believe.

Just wanted to multi-quote and let you all know that Basic Economy includes carry on, but you may be asked to check in your bag if there's no space (at no cost) because you'll be the last to board. A co-branded card gives you +1 checked bag for free, includes early boarding, and allows you to pick a seat early.

Delta doesn't restrict from carry on bags. There is only the government rule of 1 + 1 carry ons allowed. I get the basic economy fare on Delta sometimes and it really saves!
Checking in the first bag is still the same cost - $25.
