I guess you edited your comment to this silly thing.

Any way here is my reply to the comment you edited.

"I wasn't referring to false alerts I was referring to actual cops I see on the side of the road. In any case if you still want to use the detector i would highly recommend turning off k band and x band completely and only leave ka band on and make sure ka band is set to USA if you have an escort or beltronics. That should eliminate or at least reduce the false alerts significantly (it did to mine). Yes you will be vulnerable to k and x bands but you'll still have good protection against ka which is better than not running the detector or not trusting it specially since most cops that run radar run ka.

As far as the whole making our country safer thing, I'll save my rant and no comment there."
This is horrible advice considering many cops still use K band

It's the lesser of two evils and that's what I indicated in my answer. You are better off having protection from just ka than ignoring your detector because of all the false alerts or turning it off all together. If you have an older detector without good filtering this is one way to keep using it (and have partial protection) until you can afford to get a new detector.

With the flow of traffic cops can see if u r speeding but need proof in court so if u have one of these laser jammers wouldn't the cop still know u r speeding & bust your chops anyway? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I would recommend Redline for a novice. It doesn't have GPS and is not the best at filtering out false alerts, so it might drive you crazy to the point of not using it. Another detector with better false filtering, decent range and GPS might be a better fit for you. Check out Uniden DFR7, Radenso XP or Escort Max/Max2 if you can get them for less than $300.

Laser jammers get really expensive. There's only one brand which can jam any laser: ALP. It will run you $500 for one head + $250 for each subsequent head, so $1250-$1500 for full protection depending on the size of your car, $750-$1000 for front only. The minimum would be two heads in front and one head in back for full protection, but it's not ideal. This is all without install cost.

I actually just sold my radar detector because it had been sitting in my glove box unused for years. Every time I've been pulled over in the last decade they got me with laser. Not really sure how useful they are anymore.

X, K, Ka, Lasar.......What about "lines in the road".
My friend drives tractor trailer in PA. He says only the state police can use these devices so the locals paint lines across the road and time your vehicle. He is always pointing out these lines when we are riding around. I don't know how the timing is done.

Not to downplay RDs. I have been using them since 1985. I'm running Beltronics in both vehicles now.

I have used a lot of Escort/Beltronic RDs over the years. I bought a Beltronic RX65 in 2005 that is still working fine today. In 2010 I bought a Porsche 911S for driving between San Diego and Las Vegas twice a month. I would drive after midnight, put the top down and I-15 would be very little to no traffic so I could really unwind on some of the straights that went for 10 miles or more. I bought the Redline and was impressed with how it would pick up radar 10 miles away on many of the flat, unobstructed areas. It was remarkable and I felt confident if I was going 120-140mph at some times. Then, after about 1 week the warranty period running out it started flashing "SERVICE". I called Escort and they said it was essentially dead. I cost me $500 and I felt for the little time it worked it was great, but sold the car eventually and never went back to Redline. I still have my trusty Beltronic RX65 from 12 yrs ago and bought another for $120 for my other car. The Redline died too soon and Escort Cust Srvce was bad "sorry, that is out of warranty and essentially dead, sir". Great - $500 for about 8% of the time I have had the RX65! Redline is great but being black it heats up a lot in the sun (RX65 is silver) and I took precautions by having a white plastic cutout taped over the Redline to reflect the sun and it still died!

You get -4 unhelpful votes for being honest and RIGHT , insane. I'd also get a V1 for 399.
Having owned a V1, Escort 9500, Max360, radenso pro se and a few others I would buy the Redline for even $100 more than a V1. I still have the redline and sold the V1 /360 on ebay and the others returned under the 30 day tryout. This is/was a super deal for anyone looking for the best range and off axis detection out there. Of course only my opinion having owned and used about every premium unit sold. Everyone has their favorite though but the Redline is widely considered the benchmark unit of all windshield mount radar detectors.

As for reliability I am going on 7 years with the unit never taken down through summer and winter and it still works and looks like day 1.

Laser jammers won't save you in all situations. Cops can get your speed with instant on radar, VASCAR (planes), pacing (from the front or behind) etc. They can also visually estimate your speed with +-5mph accuracy (they are trained for that). You have to use your eyes and brain to avoid getting ticketed.

Buyer Beware: I have had two of these and they both get out of calibration quickly. You need to ship it in to be re-done and I got it back in a month-ish. Additionally, these over heat. Quickly.

Bad design with no heats vents being black. It has good range but it will alert a lot.

Buyer beware. Overheats/Needs Constant re-calibrations

Good range but poor design for western populations.
I've had mine since it was released. What are you smoking?

Yes, it falses a lot with all the shitty cars having radar. I think it can be sent in and reflashed, though.

Cops cannot legally issue a citation by estimating your speed. And they wouldn't be accurate half the time.

It probably depends on state laws, but, yes they can issue a citation based on visual estimate alone: https://www.expertlaw.com/forums/...p?t=116209

This radar has the longest range in the market and will give you the earliest detection possible. It does not have all those extra bells and whistles like GPS or direction of signal, it just gives the best chance of getting you speed in check.

Also, I believe it is the only radar detector that is completely invisible to radar detector detectors.

I run it in my car and on my motorcycle.
does it really help for cops? does it work in the city?

You should learn more about radars, jammers etc. This guy has pretty good tutorials: http://www.vortexradar.com/

To be fair, California isn't a real state. It's a tax wasteland that only fools live in. All bets are off on what stupid shit they pull there.
