Are you sure that's an i5 and not a Core M?

It's what the Kaby Lake 4.5W/Y series/Core M are called now.

I agree with the article. Seems like a misleading rebrand.

But the performance gain over Skylake generation Core M, is significant during longer running program due to the very high Turbo Boost and capability of sustaining that for a bit longer.

I am waiting for the Kaby Lake Core m3 7y-30. Don't need the i5 (m5) but want the Kaby Lake for HEVC 10 bit hardware decoding.

This one is cheaper, if you have costco membership. Smaller ssd but quad hd screen. Thoughts on one vs other?

I am not sure the Quad HD is a pro or con. It has a higher resolution that I cannot tell on 13", is dimmer than the FHD version and drains more power. Even worse, some app are not good for QHD and the menu will be hard to read.

The 512GB HDD is definitely a pro.

Thanks for the insight, quad does seem unnecessary on a smaller screen. The power drain is also a good point.
