Out of stock, but still orderable. Says it ships in 2-4 weeks (usually ends up being earlier than later with Amazon).

Cheaper alternative to having multiple Nest Protects, in my opinion. Even works with some water/leak detectors (Leeo has a list of compatible detectors). I've been happy with mine. I use 1 for my 1400 sq. ft. house, and 1 for my 700 sq. ft. garage. Also, since it's a "listener" (not a sensor), you don't have to replace it every 10 years.

Monitors your existing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms 24/7 and alerts you via smartphone if your alarms go off
Provides local emergency services phone number based on your home's address, no matter where you are
Calls friends and family for backup if you don't respond to smoke and carbon monoxide alert notifications
Requires iPhone 4S or later running iOS 8+ or Android phone with Bluetooth 4.0 and running 4.3+, In-home WiFi, U.S. residence address and ten digit phone number and free Leeo iOS or Android app. No international support.
Easy setup - just plug it in, download the free iOS or Android app and connect to your home's Wi-Fi!
Adjust the Leeo nightlight manually, or remotely via your smartphone, to help illuminate a hallway or room
Personalize the color or shade to fit your mood or decor, with over 16 million color options to choose from
Use IFTTT to change the color of your Leeo nightlight to signal changes in your home or surrounding environment

So hypothetically,

If you had a pet parrot or cockatoo, and it taught to mimic a fire alarm... it could use this to contact you.

Not necessarily a bad device in general, but there's no point in comparing it to a Nest Protect.

The Nest Protect is a smoke detector with IoT capabilities.

The Leeo is a smoke detector detector with IoT capabilities.

So it monitors your existing smoke alarm...how does it do it? needs to be plugged in to smoke alarm circuit or just listens to the beeps?
Sorry, I'm at work can't look it up, would like to get before deal is dead .

From Amazon page:
====================

In a fire or CO leak, acting fast can make all the difference. Leeo listens for alarms and notifies you the moment it hears one, so you can take action from wherever you are. You can listen to the alarm, dismiss the notification, or contact local 911 — all right from the app.

..... the ambient light setting turns on a soft light when it's dark.....

===================

Note, may want to check the review, doesn't work for interconnect alarm system that multiple alarm ring at the same time. And may not recognize all fire alarm. But the night light works great.

It just listens for the beeps. Interesting concept, but definitely not a replacement for an actual Smart smoke/CO detector like Nest protect.

Listens for your existing alarms to go off and then alerts your smart phone and also records for 15 seconds and send you a phone call of the recording. Its pretty slick IMO. Also works with IFTTT

Also remember, there is no battery backup. So either power go down or your internet/wifi go down, this device become useless.

I have mine plugged into a UPS (along with the router, obviously). Also, it does notify you if it goes offline.

I set mine up with IFTTT too. If the Leeo detects CO, my furnace turns off and the fan kicks on. I think I have a few other things set up as well, but that's the one I remember.

I couldn't respond to an alert I got once (wasn't by my phone), and it went down my list of emergency contacts. My brother called me to tell me that my Leeo was alerting. Pretty nice.

I have one unit and just picked up two more. On my home alarm system ,I have a couple of actual smoke detectors connected to the alarm company, but they also installed a fire fighter module that works exactly like this Leeo unit. It listens for certain sounds patterns , one for smoke, one for CO , and one for compatible water alarms. Its a very cost effective way to make your existing Smoke, CO, and water alarms "smart". It may not replace a few Nest protect units per say but the redundancy is nice. Plus, the big benefit IMO is the water alert. The likelihood of a fire or CO issue is less than a water issue. I know of several people who have had a water leak that has caused significant damage to their home. With an alert system like Leeo paired with some very affordable water alarms, you can feel comfortable knowing that you will be alerted to an issue shortly after a water leak occurs and you can address it before the water damage becomes significant. These went down to this price in December and I missed out, I've got two more units coming and still cheaper than the cost of 1 nest protect.
