Daiwa Samurai X Spinning Combo [dickssportinggoods.com] for 30

Daiwa Lady Samurai X Spinning Combo [dickssportinggoods.com] for 30

Daiwa 7' Samurai X 2-Piece Spinning Combo [dickssportinggoods.com] for 35

I almost pulled the trigger on these last week for a fishing trip coming up with friends. But glad I waited for my golf galaxy merch credit. Pretty much get a free rod and reel for free.

Love when this deal comes around - can't go wrong for two quality combos for $30.

I'm a firm believer that a $15 combo can catch fish just as well as a $200 one. Because it really comes down to lure/bait, experience, intuition and luck.

I also believe Shakespeare makes the best reels/rods for kids for the money. Example:

For the same $10, you'd get a crappy plastic Zebco combo that's guaranteed to break. I bought two Zebco Dock Demon combos from Walmart specifically for the pole (immediately threw away the reels) and put $10 micro spincast reels on them for my kids. Best setup for the little ones.

Ummm, this isn't the type of pole you seek for pygmy strippers.

What length is most common? Not sure what determines the length you should choose.

Never mind, ended up going with the 6'6" rod. I just wanted something to have on hand if I ever decide to go fishing with a co-worker or something. I was thinking of selling the extra one at a neighborhood garage sale that's coming up, but I just might keep the extra one as a backup, depending on the quality once I see it in person.

keep it. I have YouTube series and I am now exploring local/urban ponds to get more people fishing. lookup JaimeAstin on YouTube and ask any questions.

These are lighter freshwater rods. Not really what you want for a typical saltwater pier unless you're fishing for something very small. Might get away with the 7" med-heavy but still kind of pushing it if you'd be using much weight and/or trying to haul something up any height.

Are they good for 30+ inch strippers?
