Frontpage Walmart/Brickseek YMMV Deals?

Why are these deals now making it onto the front page? You are effectively reducing the tiny chance of actually getting a deal to pretty much impossible for the regular forum goers on here. I thought one of the criteria of making it to the front page was that the deal had to be widely available, I'm pretty sure walmart clearance deals do not fall under that definition.

Is brickseek now paying to be put on the front page?

What deal are you talking about? That would be a good frame of reference before making a complaint.

Both the recent Canon camera and Apple watch deals for instance.

Hi,

Our DEs are testing some things "outside of the box" when it comes to sending things to the frontpage.

They are listening to members and going by votes on some deals that might not have been sent there before, for reasons such as YMMV but have a lot of TUs because most are getting in on the deal.

Since so many are getting in on it...seems it should be hitting the FP, right?

Nothing to do with any inventory checker nor any particular store. We just want to make sure that we are first with the best deals.

I scored an Acer touchscreen laptop last year on one of those Wal-Mart YMMV threads. Some of them are better than others. I personally dislike seeing MicroCenter deals, since there are no B&M locations anywhere near me. Frown

Usually by the time most of these Walmart YMMV deals make it onto here I've already checked the SKU on Brickseek, StockByMe(which I think is an offshoot of BS) AND Bmseek.tk to check, double and triple check numbers and pricing and bought what I wanted before anybody else finds out.

Sadly most of the YMMV Walmart threads lately(including the large electronics one in Deal Talk) seem to turn into search begging threads where low post count users beg people who have scripts capable of running a nationwide search for the lowest price to run searches for them(sometimes on a laundry list of items and looking for ridiculous/absurd prices on them).

So to me THAT is the reason to shut them down rather than making an already YMMV deal even more YMMV. I'm all for deal hunting and helping out if I can. But looking at some of these users post histories is like reading a questionnaire where they don't seem to want to do anything for themselves. That, to me, is just cluttering up threads and making them harder to find any good deal information in when you have to sift through 1000 begging posts to get to the handful with SKU's and pricing for good items.
