Came across this and though it was a good price for a great set. This is the KS800D identical to KS8000 just made for stores like Costco/Sams Club to avoid price matching.

Shipping to store is free, or $49 to your house. Personally I would inspect the TV before leaving the store with it as Walmart refurbs are a crap shoot and screens can arrive broken.

Outside of OLED this is arguably the best set on the market for 2016

Why did this get a thumbs down? Am I missing something?

Probably because people don't like refurbished, especially when it makes getting an extended warranty far more difficult. You can try your luck, but my call to SquareTrade ended with them telling me that refurbished models do not get covered, but YMMV.

$861 after tax/shipping. Kills the deal, especially for a refurb.

With new ones at $980, probably better to pass on this referb?

Definitely. If you plan on keeping this any extended period of time, and I with my experience with the KS8000 and KS9000, an extended warranty is imperative.

No. I had one of these back when the "Big Game" sales were going on. First night it was wonderful. Second night I started watching movies with letterboxes and saw the horrors of edge-lighting in action. The next day, I spent almost $600 more for a Vizio P65 and never looked back.

No. Because you had a panel with edge bleeding doesn't discount everyone who didn't it's possible to get bad panels from any manufacturer..This can happen with any TV, I have a Full Array Vizio as my secondary TV and while it looks great it has it's own set of cons in other areas. Don't get me wrong the P-series is nice but we're talking about a 55", which the P Series uses an IPS Panel on the 55". Further more which one is better between these 2 comes down to your room environment and preference. In a bright living room (like mine) the KS8000 will outshine the Vizio. In a Darkroom watching a movie at night the P series has the upper hand.

Personally I mainly game, watch sports and TV shows.. my living room is very bright so I went with the 8 Series Samsung. Both are great sets and I'm glad you enjoy your TV.
