Not sure why this got a thumbs down... I think this is a pretty decent deal for the overall package. If you look hard enough you could probably find a comparable 1060 laptop though.

go with this or build a ryzen rig to use as a workhorse/ virtual lab (run multiple VMs) for IT certs & do some occasional gaming? anyone have a link on laptops vs desktop performance that is recent?

p.s. this thing has 2 memory slots, 0 available (comes with 2x 8gb sticks). max memory 32GB.

Let's do some compare with dell inspiron.
7700 vs 7300 ($80)
16gb vs 8gb ($50)
512ssd vs 256ssd ($60)
IPS vs Crap TN ($80)
I think 250 is totally worth a upgrade!

personally rejected the idea of buying laptops due to inability to upgrade. I have 24" 1080p g-sync monitor and a Node 202. With Roccat Tusko I can carry this setup around while having a full-size desktop with 1440p g-sync monitor sitting at home.

Well, this thing is confirmed to be able to use NVMe SSDs with a BIOS update, so while that's not an upgrade 'per se,' it definitely gives this another gold star.
