Moved my openmediavault NAS to this unit. 6 total drives, 1x boot SSD, 5xHDD in RAID5.

Some notes:
  • OMV cannot boot/install with new UEFI bios. Had to configure this machine to use legacy boot: https://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=27718&docId=mmr_sf-EN_US000006828&lang... [hpe.com]
  • This machine takes a standard ATX PSU! Put in a seasonic modular PSU with enough SATA power connects. No proprietary cables like a Dell
  • Used a standard SATA cable on the optical disk SATA port for the boot SSD
  • SSD is just hanging in the bottom of the case
  • Its tight with all 5 of LFF bays filled
  • if you want to max out all 6 drives and disconnect the optical disk, you will need a PSU with 6 SATA power ports, and you will need 2 extra SATA cables, use a SSD boot and stick it in the bottom of the case

Left memory alone, 4GB plenty for non-plex NAS usage. Everything else is standard affair. Came from HP N40L microserver. This thing flies with a SSD boot with OMV.
So this does have onboard RAID? Or did you use an add-in card?

I ended up ordering it when the price very briefly dropped to $189. Ordered on Sunday, shipped on Monday, arrived on Wednesday.

Here's the setup guide for the server:

And here's the manual full manual (which states it has onboard Intel RAID):

I bought this server but really have no use for it. If anyone wants, please pm me
I should mention I upgraded to 24GB ram, and all drivers and everything is fully setup. Server will come with a licensed copy of Windows Server 2012 r2
