Although they've reduced rewards benefits over the years, this is still an excellent card. Pick your high spend categories and it's very easy to max out the 5%, $2000 spend every 3 months.

I opened a free checking, with them, to test water, by untouched it, for a year plus. Then they took away, all of my money, for fees. I called them up and they couldn't do anything for me. Never want to deal with them again. People might have better luck with their credit card division. my2cents

Every bank charges fees for accounts unless you meet criteria to get it waived. If you didn't meet that criteria, then of course you would get money charged each month.

I checked very carefully that I met all criteria, before i opened an accout with them. But they changed my account to something else, after long time without activities. Then it starts to recurred fee based on the new account terms.my2cents

i have a minimum expectation of $200 for a signup bonus for a credit card bonus but there are exceptions.
i think the 5% on 2 categories is nice. also the extra $25 is nice. in essence it is a $125 signup bonus.
other than that, a not so great card.

Eh, I applied for this card a few months ago. Got denied, probably because I opened too many credit cards in a short amount of time. $100 isn't that great, but it's free money. The card itself is meh. I'll stick with my Citi DoubleCash for regular purchases outside of Amazon.com. For that, I already have their 5% Prime card.

to be honest this card is a bit more than meh, the electronics category alone is worth the 5% back as it has a nice big list of stores, newegg, best buy, apple store, frys, abt, beach camera, Crutchfield, the list is huge

Also

Looks like they are swapping the charity one for a ground transportation one that includes ride shares like lyft and Uber, cash plus card is a heck of a card, you get to pick 2 of the 5% Categories, then 2% back in 3 more options, and 1% for everything else. ..for me the seller is the electronics category as some of cash back is the same or more than their own store cards.

This actually used to be a great card. Then they started reducing benefits and eliminating the most popular categories. I've read over at FW that many weren't happy that they cut out the charity category. Now that my Citi Forward and Barclay's SallieMae cards have died, though, maybe I'll give the US Bank another look. Reports of people not receiving their bonus give me pause, though.

I use this card for fast food stores and Mobile bill payment (I have a grandfathered Group line in Tmobile). Easily gets me $30-$40 each month.

Same thing happened to me, and since I didn't read my statements carefully (because I knew I had no activity), it was on me. Many financial institutions would be lenient in this type of situation, but not USBank. Technically my fault though.

As for this card, agree with other posters - used to be the very best card (5% on all utilities, including almost any you could think of), but has steadily lost most usefulness. I only use it for cell phone bill and fast food, which doesn't amount to much.

I read the old thread.... Does this require I open a US Bank checking and / or savings account with them in order to qualify for this bonus?

heads up, there is also a $200 cash rewards back on $500 offer that is floating around but that is only available if its in your us bank profile under promotions that only tellers and bankers can see (you'd have to ask one in a branch to look in your profile, there are $50, $100, $150, & $200 versions).
