I just found an email from the SiriusXM Settlement in my spam folder with an access code for 3 months of free SiriusXM service.

Subject is: Class Action Settlement Final Notice: FREE SIRIUS XM SERVICE--NO COST, NO OBLIGATION

Full text of email:
Quote :
You are entitled to three (3) months of FREE Sirius XM Select service if you were not a paying subscriber prior to April 10, 2017.

Under a legal settlement Sirius XM will provide three (3) months of free access to Sirius XM's Select service (currently priced at $15.99/month, plus a $15 set-up fee and applicable sales taxes), to each eligible Settlement Class Member. You are being sent this email because Sirius XM's records show that your vehicle purchase or lease likely makes you eligible. If you are a Class Member, go to the Settlement Website now and register for the free service.

To activate this free service on an inactive Sirius XM radio of your choice, you can enter your radio ID or VIN at the link below by April 23, 2017. You do not need to enter any credit card or payment information. When your three (3) months of free service ends, you will stop receiving the service and will not be billed for anything. There will be no continuing obligation.Register for

It appears so. Could be useful for family or friends that haven't activated Sirius in their vehicles yet though.

They are not asking for any CC information, what are you talking about?

Not even for free. Dropped all my fave channels. Ended up canceling after more than a decade of service.

I am talking about a company I loath. Who seemed to have no one in charge. Who's customer service is non existent. When I see any thing about these guys here I just have to see what game they are playing now. When I saw the class action I was thinking that there was some sort of action on the past practices I could take advantage of, but when I saw the pay out was 3 months free, I stopped reading and immediately hit the warning button. It would be just like them to come up with a deal for 3 months free when you put a CC on file and then they can charge you full freight (12 x $15/month plus fees and tax) on day 89 when you do not cancel. Just more variations on the 5,6 month and year promotions.

After you ask , I see this "looks" like a real action, but I do not qualify because I had a kit it was not built in to the car so I have no VIN to enter., If we knew about it in December, real cash was available for some.. That I would have took out advertising to promote. Anything to put these guys in to bankruptcy so a real management team could figure out a how to make this work for free. There are enough unused radios you would think it would be a no brainier.

Ahh I see..
If you bought or leased a new or used vehicle that included Sirius XM radio on a promotional basis and later received a call to your mobile phone made on behalf of Sirius XM, but were never a paying subscriber prior to July 5, 2016, you may be entitled to benefits from a class action settlement.

A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit about whether Sirius XM Radio Inc. ("Sirius XM" or "Defendant") violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, 47 U.S.C. §227, et seq. ("TCPA" or "the Act"), by authorizing telephone solicitation calls made by or on behalf of Sirius XM to individuals who purchased or leased a new or used vehicle that had a promotional subscription to Sirius XM radio that ended no later than April 5, 2016 and who never became paying subscribers prior to July 5, 2016. The calls were allegedly made to Class Members' cell phone numbers using an automatic telephone dialing system. The calls occurred during the period between February 15, 2008 and July 5, 2016. Sirius XM denies the allegations in the lawsuit, and the Court has not decided who is right. The Settlement provides Class Members three months of Free Service (as defined below) or the option to participate in a $35 million Settlement Fund.........

I have a new car and my Sirius is only for 3 months as a trial. I don't plan on paying full price for a subscription to renew or anywhere near their full price.

But haven't received a phone call either so... not eligible.. thanks anyway OP Nice PSA.

I'm not sure what your price point is, but I've been paying 50% of the full price since I started paying (3 months free trial w/ car, called to cancel, was offered 6 months @ $20) "full" price. They have always matched this offer when I call to cancel and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to talk to someone with customer service.

Thanks... I figured that if I didn't fill in this order form renewal bill that they just sent me (car is less than a month old laugh out loud)$15.99/month or $200.34 yr or $400.68 for 2 yrs (Dontknow savings for longer term hahah anyway) then they would contact me and offer some decent deal. 6 months at $20 sounds more reasonable.

I have to admit that even though my drive to work is only 10-15 minutes I really do enjoy having a wider selection of stations.
I am from MI and had several rock stations back home.. out herein NV we have like...2

I did get this mailing for another car but never had the time to respond to it. I wonder if they got the offer.

Just like the cruise calls, I wonder if there's some hidden agenda.

The sound quality of their satellite radio is terrible. Even HD radio sounds leagues better than their sound quality. Some research showed that their satellite can only transmit 64kb/second of data, that's dial-up territory right there.

If you have XM radio equipped on your car just tune in to their free channel, it sounds like you are listening through a tin can.
