I freaking hate the Amex rule off Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product. I wish it was like 2 or 3 years.
Hilton program has gone way down hill over the past few years. Sad.
While I agree the points aren't worth what they used to be but Hilton has a great earning structure if you actually pay for your stays. (I know that doesn't apply to everyone here). They frequently run 2x and 3x your base points on stays or 2,000/night and you can sometimes stack promotions. For my last two stays I got 41 points/$ without including a credit card multiplier. If I had used this card it would have been 53 points/$. For my stay habits I get more value out of Hilton than I do Marriott/SPG or IHG

Depends on where/when you travel. I just used 60,000 hilton points to book a night at a hotel over NYE that was going for $614/night although I realize this is an unusually good redemption rate.

About half a cent per point is a good estimate for most hotel programs. SPG of course is a notable exception.

Hyatt points are also pretty valuable. I'd say at least 1.5 cents per point. But yeah, the value of Hilton Honors points are about half a cent per point.

Yep, looked at average 3 star hotels, looked like 60-70k/night before fees, so ~75-85k/night after fees, and that was without any "resort fees" included. They also massively devalued the points in 2013, and have steadily increased hotels' "categories" since then to devalue the points even further. Hard pass.
