Note that they are currently beta testing the Plex Cloud, which allows you to upload your media to a major cloud service of your choosing (OneDrive, GoogleDrive, DropBox, at your expense, of course) and they will serve your media to you (recode and transmit) wherever you are without you needing a Plex Server at home. Some limitations, naturally, exist (# of simul streams, for example) and it's not avail to all Plex subscribers, but I would expect this to be limited PlexPass going forward rather than slipping to the Plex free tier simply due to the expense of conversion and transmission.

I am in the Beta but haven't had a chance to try it - just passing on a potential future benefit of the subscription service.

I took the plunge a few weeks ago when the lifetime price drop happened. Even if I stop using it tomorrow, the value I got from the software over the past several years is worth the price.

So is this like an online version of Apple TV, but without the storage device? I saw that I could stream some live TV depending on my area. Anyone know if I could use like a VPN to dupe the system so I could watch another region's local sports team?

Finally went for it after considering for about a year. I've been using Plex for quite a while. Figured it was time to show them some love. Why not when it's discounted?

Same here. $75 and I'll bite. Kicking myself for not jumping then... even though I don't foresee myself using a lot of the Plex Pass "upgrades".

Picked this up a few weeks ago. I've been running Plex on a Linux server for at least four years and recently started running it on a WDC NAS. The new features that come with the pass vs. the free version are pretty cool.

Now, how much $$ will it cost to get 7-8TB into a cloud service.. haha

Edit: Actually.. Not bad at all. $60 a year for Amazon Unlimited is great.

Edit2: Apparently, Plex doesn't support Amazon Cloud.. wtf

What features do you use with the pass version that you find indispensable and worth the upgrade?

They did support it initially, but there was a technical challenge that caused the to remove support, as I understand.

You're way off base here in your understanding of Plex
