Um...Brewing my own means driving to the carry-out and pulling the Bud Light Lime out of the fridge. On a wild night, I go with Killians.

because your carboy is clear, make sure its out of direct sunlight and if possible out of light in general... when i use carboys i typically just cover it with a towel or two, then when you want to get a quick peek, take it off to watch fermentation...
it's just sitting in the bathroom right now... out of direct sunlight. before i leave tomorrow morning for hawaii, i'm going to put it in the bathtub. i'm also considering switching the blowoff hose with the airlock either late tonight or early tomorrow morning. or should i just leave the blowoff hose and screw the airlock?

at this point i would leave the blowoff on there...primary krausen occurs 24-48 hours after pitching the yeast...if your bucket of water is still bubbling(which it should) i would just let it be...if it was 4 days after pitching i would then put the airlock on there. you have no worries as it won't affect your beer...breweries use blowoff only

I have a Porter and an Imperial Stout both in the primaries, nothing in secondaries, and some of my Martin Luther Alpha King (Black & Hoppy) in the fridge. Porters getting racked this weekend. Imperial stout has another month until it gets racked.

does your porter even need a secondary? i would rack the imperial stout into a secondary and age off of the yeast...
