so are you going to put your 5 gallon batches into a 15 gallon keg? seems kinda silly...your whole fridge is devoted to 1 beer.
Negative. It's a 5 gallon sankey. Same shape as a corny. If I can take it apart and put it back together, I'll soak Oxyclean in there overnight and then sanitize before use with Star San.

I bought the single stage temp controller from Northern Brewer for $79. It's digital and pre-wired. So, no messing with electricity. Very easy to use. Brian has the same one. Item 40090. I used it on my current brew. Fermentation temp was about 65-66 all the time. It only kicks on about 4-5 times a day.

Thanks, they're blocked here at work so I'll check it out tonight when I get home.

mav make sure you get that keg REALLY clean before racking your beer into it...breweries have special machines that was it under high pressure streams to clean their sankey kegs.... with corneys you can get in there with a brush or whatever your scrubbing method is...with sanke, its more of the swirl and hot water with with a cleaner... soak and pray that its all clean...

I actually made $20 in vegas last week for drinking beer. In the Planet Hollywood (formerly the Aladin) you can do a blind taste test on light beers. They were all pretty much crap, (Bud light, Coors light etc) but it only takes abotu 10 minutes and they cut you a check right there. It's funny to see their faces when they ask you what brand of beer you drink and you tell them I make my own. laugh out loud Also as you fill out the form for the check the it has some legalize stuff about law pertaninate to the state of Missouri. Hummm. I asked them if Bud was really a domestic beer any more since it's owned by inBev now. There were humm good point (they made a big point about were there any domestic light beers I drank). Something to do if you happen to be in the area.

Damn that takes a long time for me.
Missed my OG by a long ways. Should have been 1.049 and I got 1.043.
I did pitch the the WLP kolsch yeast but with my low OG I probably should have used the -05Blush
Oh well. It is my understanding that I will still create beerWink

what temp did you pitch the yeast at? if its warm the gravity reading will be off... so it could be a higher gravity.

I wish it was more, but I already corrected for temp. I probably should have up-scaled the grain bill to compensate for noobness.
It's all good. I'm still learning here, and quite frankly, I'm rather pleased with the results I've had to this point.
Now, what should I brew nextScratchchin

if you up the grain bill for efficiency problems...only up the base grains...not the specialty grains..

If I can get the valve off as easy as the video, what's the problem? From the looks of it, I can still get the carboy brush in there. But, if the valve is a PITA, I'll get rid if it. I still ordered the conversion kit I posted earlier. That way, I can use both ball lock and sankey.

Well, now that I'm thinking about it, how would I pressurize it without beer being pushed up the beer line? Do you know if there is a way to do that?
