How does the YN-468ii compare to the YN-560ii? I use my 560 in manual mode right now, so most of the bells and whistles don't really matter to me.

lets keep this simple. this flash does NOTHING auto. you will need to have some understanding of how a camera works in manual mode. not manual focusing. but exposure, shutter speed and ISO.

Yongnuo flash models that end with a nonzero number have TTL, like YN-465, 467, 468 and 565. Read the reviews in that link I gave above.
On the other hand, OP's deal is for a manual flash.

This is a great no-frills manual flash. I've had three of them for the past year. Battery life is more than adequate, and output is relatively high for a speedlight.
No reliability issues aside...
