It's a laptop. The solution is in your power settings. It is set to go dim (when not in use) after a certain amount of time or if running on the battery.
Oh also, you uninstalled the driver so yes...

Read again. It went bright again after a reset and again after removing the driver...you simple, as usual, didnt bother reading the OP....Try it for once....

sometimes you wonder whether folks actually bother reading the op..if uninstalling the adapter makes the screen bright again, it is 100 percent driver related...if its working well now, leave it be..

the cable to the backlight is probably short/broke or lose. could be as easy as plugging it back in or replacing the cable.
or it could be the backlight is dying.
