Maybe it's time that he starts pretending he was trolling?

Not in any measurable way for distances that short, unless your air is totally filled with smoke. Ah, there it is!

lol he's back, see previous post

except you're both wrong because the air between the lens and the screen aren't in a vacuum - masters in physics - yeah right.

DunDun sees your comments, he's just conveniently avoiding his defeat.

Maybe I can just simplify this all: 1000 lumens confined to and projected unto a 100" screen = 1000 lumens confined to and projected unto a 100" screen It's just as easy as that.

Thanks for the assist.

Inverse square law is a consequence of the area increasing. When area is fixed the ISL doesn't come into play. However, take either projector (or a an unfocused lightbulb) and double the distance and...

I'm assuming you're calling yourself a muppet.

Depending on the distance from the short throw to a normal projector, wouldn't the inverse square law come into play?

Correct. Though over this range of distances that we are considering air is taken as a vacuum for clarity. If that is untrue, your house is probably on fire and you're dying of smoke inhalation as...

You're correct in assuming that distance has an effect on lumens, but even at 11 cm away from the wall it would still get drowned out because ambient light really is that effective at washing over...

Correct. Illuminance is lumens/square meter. Since the area and lumens are fixed, distance becomes irrelevant. Your analogy is accurate.

I picked this one up a couple weeks ago. They shipped quick, had to pay California taxes :( http://m.costway.com/new-portable-100-projector-16-9-projection-screen-tripod-pull-up-matte-white.html

That was my thoughts on jolly's post, incandescent bulbs emit light 360 degrees and a projector is focused so I wouldn't think it'd lose anywhere near 75% of it's brightness in just two meters. A...

I have a Masters degree in physics. If the light was unfocused you would be correct because the area would change. When the light is focused, and thereby making the area constant (100" screen), throw...
