i'm leaning toward 8 if nothing else interesting comes to market within a month or so. not sure if it'll drop in price when note 8 will be released. scamsung trade is very risky.

No root right now is fine. Eventually when it gets sluggish or I get board with stock, hopefully they will have root. As of now it works fine for my needs. Haven't needed root to run anything special...

I like it, went with the plus. Came from the g5 and a moto x pure. I wanted the Samsung pay and the vr. It is crippled though, locked bootloader, no root as of yet. Not to be confused with carrier...

It was actually a Motorola g1, in mint condition, but still old of course. I also did the Samsung financing....not sure if that helped. I also got mine in two days, didn't have the shipping issues...
