Cx has gone down a lot, but imo it still excellent, if the price is same or little higher, I would rather take cx than a anytime. But not sure if I will say the same when cx change to 10 seat per row...

Well its only hkg via United. Otherwise to pay $300 more and also spend 7 more hours on the plane is not worth the hassle. Thanks though.

Just buy a ticket from Newark to LAX and then buy a ticket from LAX to HK. It'll add at most $300 but that's still way cheaper than Newark to HK
