Why? In most cases, an external box is much better than built-in smart features. That being, said, I don't think $250 for a 'plain' non 4k TV is a good price either.

Definitely go see this tv in person before buying. For kids play room, buy online. For your use ... spend a bit more. This tv is few settings & I couldn't adjust it to my liking.

Not terrible. A chromecast or roku connected to this is better than most crappy smart interfaces anyway.
