The ending of ME2 was epic, but yes, having the ME1 background made things a lot less confusing.

Here is a list of the all the DLC for all Mass Effect games. Of all of these, I would say Lair of Shadow Broker is a must. Frankly, it was one of the best DLC I have ever played for any game.

Just echoing earlier comments, but if you dont have Shadow Broker, that's the first one I'd get. Lets you tie up Liara's story, plus that way if you romanced her in ME1 you can continue it in ME2....

I went to check if the dlc for pc is on sale and it doesn't look like it. I wouldn't blame the OP for not checking, it is kinda a pain if you don't have origin installed
