because they factually, mathematically, are. So are a slew of other category cards that require neither USAA membership nor an annual fee that I also listed. I listed cards that beat this one...

You've resorted to insisting that the USAA card and an annual-fee card are superior... Talking to you is pointless. I'm getting 5 bonus nights with Hilton this winter. Have fun chasing pennies.

it's not groupthink, it's math. I mean- not really. One category is gas stations. On average people spend less than $1500 on gas in a year (and you can bank the unspent amount via gift...

That's groupthink. I'm aware of the sentiment, but I disagree with the opinion that the no-annual-fee Hilton card is a bad card for everyone. When it comes to rotating bonus cards, the $1500 limit...

Knightsade provides some good advice. I actually singed up for the higher end Hilton Amex card (3k spend in 3 months, annual fee), but I know the benefits and will be able to use them. I also have...

Except I cited cases where you can get a good bit more than 3% (and without a cap) For example most people value Amex MR around 1.8 cents a point for travel (you can do much better on premium...

3% on groceries vs 2.5% on groceries...that's a difference of $30/year (at the max $6k). Plus the Hilton card includes restaurants. I'm aware that many credit card enthusiasts don't like the...

Not really. Amex Everyday is 2x MR on grocery with no fee (and 2.4x if you use it decently often. MR are usually worth 1.5-2 cents a point for travel (on the low end/economy- potentially a LOT...

Is there a no-annual-fee credit card with a higher reward on restaurant and grocery purchases? You usually get one or the other.

It's relatively easy to get greater than .5 cpp out of Hilton points if you do it right. My last booking was .09 . That being said, I'd wait till the signup bonus jumps again. As for ease of getting...

2.5% on restaurants, supermarkets, and gas is pretty good for a no annual fee card, even if it's only 1.5% on other purchases. Your rant about Amtrak makes no sense. I'm earning close to 1000...

A 75k offer expired at the beginning of October. I like this card; it has useful spending categories and good synergy with Amtrak Guest Rewards (1 Amtrak point is worth 2 Hilton points)

I think 60k Hilton points gets you a churro at disneyland. Obviously, just kidding, but honestly not all points are equal.
